  6. 1. What is UltraDefrag?
  7.  
  8.    UltraDefrag is a powerful Open Source defragmentation utility for Windows
  9. NT 4.0 and later operating systems. It is very fast, because the defragmenting
  10. is done by kernel-mode driver. They are three interfaces to them: graphical,
  11. console and native. The GUI is very useful, because visually represents your
  12. filesystem as a color coded cluster map. The console is another option for 
  13. those that prefer the command line. It is also benificial in that it can be 
  14. run in the task scheduler. Finally, the native executable will run at boot time 
  15. in a manner similar to chkdsk.

  17.    The design of UltraDefrag is very simple. There are no skins and other 
  18. unnecessary stuff. It is a small and powerful program!

  20.    It can be used on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 
  21. 2003, Windows Vista and all of the 64-bit editions of Windows. For details

  29. 2. Features and Limitations

  31. 2.1 Features

  34. + exclude zero-length files and files that are placed in MFT

  41. 2.2 Limitations
  42. - does not support volumes with more than 4.294.967.295 clusters
  43. - gui does not work if screen color depth is less than 16 bits per pixel

  45. 3. Important notes
  46.  
  47. - Deactivate your virus scanner for better performance.
  48.  
  49. - Directories on FAT volumes cannot be moved.
  50.  
  51. - System files will not be moved. Run the boot time scan to defragment them.
